It's normal for the media in Stettler to get a fax or an email with the announcement from the hospital detailing which Stettler and area resident gave birth first in the New Year along with name of the baby.
This year, Alberta Health Services said that due to the current restrictions at health facilities they won't be identifying the New Year's babies across the province. They hope to continue the tradition in 2022.
This doesn't mean that we can't find out on our own though! If you know someone who gave birth at the Stettler Hospital in 2021 and think the child could be Stettler's New Year's baby, send me an email at alexmykyta@rairdanservices.ca.
We'll wait if the baby hasn't been born yet.
