COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS

The regular Council meeting was held on Thursday, March 10, 2022. Below are the Council Meeting Highlights:

• Jonathan Lee from ActiZyme attended the Council meeting to discuss options for the Big Valley Lagoon


• Craig Teal from Parkland Community Planning Services attended the Council meeting to discuss the Joint Use Planning Agreements that municipalities are required to enter into with the School Divisions


• John Nafziger attended the Council meeting to discuss the next steps for planning the car rally on June 18, 2022. More information coming soon.


• Bylaw 862, for the purpose of an Advertising Bylaw, received 1st reading, and a public hearing for Bylaw 862 is scheduled for Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at the Administration Office commencing at 6:30 p.m. – watch for more information regarding this closer to the public hearing date or feel free to contact the Administration Office for more information.


• Operating and Capital Budgets were tabled until the next regular Council meeting, pending further information.


• The Lagoon Study has been completed, Council directed Administration to invite a representative to present the information contained in the study to the next regular Council meeting.


• Council will be purchasing a Ukrainian Flag, to show support to Ukraine, to be hung at the Train Station.


• A new CAO will be starting on April 19, 2022 – watch for the upcoming welcoming message.



NOTICE OF DEVELOPMENT PERMIT 2022-01

A Development Permit for the proposed permitted use listed below has been issued in accordance with Land Use Bylaw #765 of the Village of Big Valley;

  • Mixed-Use Development – Mini Storage Facility with Managers Suite and Office Lot 1, Block 12, Plan 1725 AN 121 Railway Avenue South

And the following Variances were approved by the Municipal Planning Commission

• That the Managers Suite be approved to be located on the ground level, as per the site plan

• That the current no rear yard setback be permitted

• That the parking requirements shall be consistent with section 3.13 – Residential, and allow for two (2) parking stalls on the property

A Notice of Appeal must be received in writing no later than April 1, 2022.
