Do you need something for your kids to do on Saturdays that’s fun and educational? Why not check out Brain Train at 10:30 am. With a basis in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, Mathematics), kids ages 6 and up get to learn while enjoying themselves. Let me tell you what you can expect in the month of November.
Be sure to mark your calendars for a visit from the Red-Hot Science team on November 13. Coming to us from Red Deer Polytechnique, these workshops provide youth from Central Alberta with a hands-on opportunity to try activities with a STEAM component. During their visit to the Stettler Public Library, children 8 and up will get to try their hand at coding and robotics. There will be two sessions on November 13, one at 10:30 am for students in grades 3-5 and a second one at 1 pm for grades 6 to 8. Call the Library at 403-742-2292 to register because spots are limited.
Part of the regular Brain Train program lineup is a biweekly Kids Coding Club. Using Scratch and Scratch Jr., kids will get an idea of how to create a computer program to do a specific job, like how to get the Scratch Cat to dunk a basketball, or create a simple game. Let’s have some fun while we figure this out! Join us on November 6 and November 20 for some irresistible coding fun!
Clean drinking water is something that should never be taken for granted. On the last Brain Train of the month, November 27, the kids will learn about clean drinking water and how to make a water filter in an emergency! I think that it has something to do with dirt! All Brain Train programs have limited spaces available; call the Library at 403-742-2292 to register.
