The Stettler P&H elevator hosted a pie and ice cream fundraiser this afternoon to raise money for projects.

In addition to the approximate 65 pies made by P&H Historical Society members, ice cream floats were sponsored by Stettler A&W.

Society member Stan Eichhorn said it was great for the society to be able to host the event.

Dedicated members of the society had been working tirelessly to make the pies and notes the group is working hard to raise funds for a variety of projects.

One of those projects is the coal shed that has been on-going. Also on the list is to finish installing heat sensors in the elevator and have them hooked up properly. They have recently been motivated to speed the project along after the section of office from one of the grain elevators that used to sit on the tracks at the north side of town, was set on fire, causing notable damage.

“Nice to get back to something normal.” Stan Eichhorn

The P&H Elevator was open to guests to wander and explore. In addition to the elevator and its collection of artifacts including an International Harvester engine, and an old swather, Society member Dave McCourt was on hand with his restored antique Ford cars.

The Stettler P&H elevator has been rather quiet this summer since a large part of their foot traffic, comes from the Steam Tour Train that runs beside the 1920 elevator.

However ,they are hopeful with the Alberta Prairie Steam Tours starting again in August, that they will see an increase in visitors.

They also have their annual Harvest Supper at the end of August.
