Shortly before 9 am on October 20th, 2020, emergency services were dispatched to an outside fire in Spruce Park in Settler, Alberta.

Stettler Regional Fire and Rescue were deployed to the blaze along with Emergency Medical Services and RCMP.

On scene crews tended to a fully engulfed trailer which was revealed to be a recreational vehicle that threatened a nearby garage and had the potential to spread to homes in the vicinity.

Smoke enveloped the area limiting visibility and compounding efforts to contain the blaze.

A source of concern was some gasoline containers located nearby, but acting quickly responders were able to avoid any additional exacerbation of the fire. ATCO Gas also attended and shut off the gas lines to the proximity eliminating further risk.

Firefighters were able to control the situation by approximately 9:30 am and just after 10 am the fire was declared out.

Emergency crews remained in the area as the investigation and cleanup was underway and all units cleared the scene shortly before 11 am.
