Where are you from? Where did you grow up?
We are moving to Stettler from High Level, AB. I grew up on a grain farm south of Rosetown, Saskatchewan.
Why do you (did you) choose Stettler as home?
Stettler was a great fit for my family for both professional and personal reasons. Clearview Public Schools matched my beliefs with their passion for students, schools and communities. As well, I really felt that my rural and small town school experience would be an asset to assist with the goals and programming that Clearview demonstrates. Personally Stettler will bring easier access to all our children and my parents, making it a great place to make home!
What do you do? What is your full title?
Superintendent of Schools for Clearview Public Schools
Education?
I received a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education from the University of Saskatchewan. I also have a Masters in Educational Leadership from Memorial University in Newfoundland.
Family?
I have been married to Sheila for 30 years and we have 3 children - Cassidy, Carter and Kara and a son-in-law Zach.
Who inspired you in your youth? I think that many of my teachers inspired me when I was younger. Particularly, Ms. Fredrickson, who was my Sr High English teacher and drama coach. Her passion for students was clear (even to a teenager) and she helped shape the person that I became.
Who inspires you now?
My parents - their continued passion for God and love for each other inspires me to be like them. They have always supported us with advice and wisdom and continue to be a sounding board for me when making important decisions. I am so proud of them and all that they have accomplished in life.
Do you have any hobbies?
Travelling, walking my dogs, British mystery TV shows and golfing
What are your plans for the future?
Continuing to travel, spending time with family and getting to know and understand the amazing work that Clearview Public Schools is doing.
Anything else you would like to add about being a resident of Stettler?
I am really looking forward to getting to know the community! The town and surrounding area are beautiful and my wife and I are excited to become a part of the town.
