Learning Commons Facilitator - Clearview Public Schools - May 17


Clearview Public Schools is accepting applications for a Learning Commons Facilitator at the Wm. E. Hay Stettler Secondary Campus. Located in Stettler, Alberta, Wm. E. Hay Stettler Secondary Campus is a vibrant and modern school with approximately 630 students in grades 7-12. This position is scheduled to start on August 26, 2022 and the successful candidate will be scheduled to work between 7 and 8 hours/day.

The successful applicant will: Be student focused with experience working in a collaborative environment Be interested in fulfilling the mandate of a learning commons as outlined by Alberta Education

“The goal of the learning commons is to enable all students to be engaged thinkers and ethical citizens with an entrepreneurial spirit. The concept of a learning commons is a shift in thinking from a library as a physical space that is a repository of books, to an inclusive, flexible, learner-centered, physical and/or virtual space for collaboration, inquiry, imagination and play to expand and deepen learning.

A learning commons is an agile and responsive learning and teaching environment available to individuals and groups to use for multiple, often simultaneous, purposes. It supports literacy, numeracy, competency development and student learning outcomes through access to and instruction in the effective use of print and digital resources. The learning commons approach functions best when learning experiences in the school community are coordinated to support student learning outcomes through collaborative planning, teaching and assessing.”

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

Organizing materials through the Insignia Software Program Supporting students in their learning, in gathering, understanding, acquiring of knowledge Accessing traditional print information as well as a variety of other media and devices to support student learning Organizing and supporting students enrolled in self-directed learning or blended programming through the Stettler Outreach School Creating opportunities, support, resources and space for student inquiry and imagination Provide and support technology for learning to enable creation, collaboration and communication Purchasing resources and materials to enhance student learning Managing a budget

Special consideration will be given to those with a Librarian training or comparable experience. Learning Commons Assistant staff receive a competitive salary of $16.00 to $24.00 per hour. The successful candidate will work in a learning environment focused on student success.
