As the pandemic continues to affect our everyday lives, the staff at Heartland Youth Center are again gearing up for their annual ‘Awesome Auction’ fundraiser online. Winnie Bissett of the HYC says that this replacement for their in-person event will be the same as last year, with bidders even able to use their previous sign-in registration.

HYC reached their ambitious goal last year of $30,000, and they have set the same goal for this year. The online auction, which started on October 5 and continues until the 7th, has already had a strong start.

There are 116 items listed for bid, plus four sponsorship opportunities, allowing bidders to sponsor snacks, program supplies, or program fees. The items range in value and include everything from meat packages to experience tickets to handmade items. Many local businesses and individuals have donated to support HYC and its programming.

According to Winnie, funds raised by the Awesome Auction pay for some of the Youth Center’s operating costs, including utilities and building insurance. The building also houses the Boys and Girls Club and Big Brothers, Big Sisters program.

Pick up for items is available on Friday, October 8, at the HYC building in Stettler.
