2/15 Celebrate 30 years of Family Day on February 17th

This year marks the 30th year of Family Day in Alberta. Family Day was first proposed in 1990 and was proclaimed by Lieutenant Governor Helen Hunley, on the advice of her then Premier, Don Getty. Getty wanted national attention on the importance of family values to be celebrated yearly.

Other provinces soon followed Alberta in declaring Family Day a provincial holiday including British Columbia, New Brunswick, Ontario and Saskatchewan.

Family Day is celebrated on the 3rd Monday in February.
