The Stettler Antique Tractor Club took part in the town’s parade today and then treated the public to a demonstration of the club’s tractor pull set to take place next week.
The tractors hooked up the club’s pull sled, and then proceeded to pull the manned-sled as far as it could before spinning out. A distance measuring wheel was mounted to the side of the sled, and measured the distance the sled was pulled before the tractor spun out.
A second tractor followed behind the pull sled and hooks up to it when the ‘competing’ tractor reached its end then pulls the sled back to the start point.
Active members of the Antique Tractor Club ranges in age. This shows in interest in older tractors crosses all generations although some of the younger members have probably never used most of the tractors in the club for anything more than ‘fun’ and ‘show’.
The demonstration was going on today to help get people interested in the club’s tractor pull slated to take place next saturday at the museum grounds.
