Stettler Elementary School Confident as New School Year Begins

With the new school year starting, schools are still under the cloud of the COVID pandemic. Principal Sharon Fischer says that the Stettler Elementary School has at least been able to

function much more normally than they have for the past 18 months. She says that as of Tuesday September 7, staff are required to wear masks in hallways and common areas, however they are allowed to remove them once inside their classrooms if they choose. Students are encouraged to follow these same practices but it is not mandatory. Fischer says most students are choosing not to wear them.

The mask mandate is different for school busses, with students of all ages required to wear masks while on a Clearview bus. She notes that last year the younger students were not required to wear masks on the bus, but new AHS rules say that it now applies to students of all ages.

As for cleanliness, Fischer says it has always been a top priority at the school. Teaching kids to properly wash their hands has always been important, and it is more so these days. The daytime custodial staff continue to ensure cleaning measures are enhanced, and sanitizer is available at all building and classroom entrances.

“In Short, we are doing everything we can to provide a positive, normal and enjoyable education for our students.” Sharon Fischer.
