Martin Kerr takes the stage in Stettler in February

Martin Kerr is a folk artist and an award-winning singer/songwriter/musician who considers Edmonton to be his hometown. He is originally from England, but love brought him here, and we are fortunate it did! Martin has an impressive resume, including many performances at folk festivals throughout the province, performing with a nine-piece band and a 100 voice choir to a sold-out show at the Winspear Centre and opening for Sarah McLachlan at Edmonton’s Rogers Place.

Kerr is a true performer. When Covid-19 cancelled all his touring and festival plans for 2020, he launched Stay Home Street Concerts. And, when the snow melted in Edmonton, he was out on the streets every day, bringing music and hope to the masses.

Every show finished with the whole street singing “You’re Amazing,” the uplifting, instantly singable hit from Martins’ last album.

His next project is a collaborative album featuring 8 of Martin’s favourite local artists titled “Grateful,” a genre-hopping collection of music ranging from hip-hop, pop, soul and funk, with Martin’s signature singer/songwriter vibe added into the mix. The common thread is that of supporting each other through hard times. The first single, “Delicate Love,” will feature R & B singer Josh Sahunta, a top 3 finalist from this year’s CBC searchlight contest.

Martin Kerr has made a real impression in popular music. His powerful voice and intricate lyrics have earned him praise from the likes of Sarah McLachlan and Bruce Cockburn and placed his last album in the Canadian top 10. Don't miss this performance of heart and connection on February 13, 2022, at 7:30 PM at the Jewel Theatre brought to you by the Stettler Variety Showcase. Tickets available at Grate Kitchen or jeweltheatre.ca
