Where are you from? Where did you grow up?

Stettler, Alberta - Born in Montreal Quebec - raised in Montreal, Brampton, Don Mills & Toronto ON - Calgary AB - Surrey BC - & Calgary

Why do you (did you) choose Stettler as home?

Stettler became home 27 years ago when Sharon & I decided to open our Jewelry Store and raise our Sons Michael & Bradley in a smaller town environment than we each grew up on.

What do you do? What is your full title?

I have evolved to be a Goldsmith doing 70% of our repairs & servicing in-house with our son Mike running the day-to-day operations. I am a Town Councillor with the Town of Stettler In my second term. I also work with Clearview School Division as a school bus driver driving primarily for field trips & some relief driving on daily routes.

Education?

Formal education = grade 12. I’ve lived my life with a craving for learning new things - I’m much smarter than I used to be - by enjoying the company of people willing to share their knowledge & skillsets. If I’m “the smartest person in the room”, I’m not in the right room!

Family?

My bride of 37 years is Sharon, our son Michael (Alexis) grandsons Nathaniel, Seth & Brody. Our son Bradley an advanced care paramedic who began his career working at the Stettler Ambulance Authority

Who inspired you in your youth? I met Mark Libman when I was 15 working in a Jewellery store as an after school student. Mark took a chance and hired me at 19 years old to represent his company as a commercial traveller for the largest manufacturer in Canada. He is retired and we remain actively in contact. He is my career & life mentor.

Who inspires you now?

The list of who inspired me now is a vast and plentiful one. Primarily my two sons, their ambitions & life goals - the school students I drive for Clearview School Division’s…. I garner inspiration from many many people in todays world.

Do you have any hobbies?

I need more - but my motorcycle is a 22 year old 25th anniversary edition Honda Gold Wing - I’m the second owner and I put it to bed for winter with 287,564 kilometres on it …. I can hardly wait for spring!!

What are your plans for the future?

Continue to work - be an active advocate for the Town of Stettler - retirement in the traditional sense isn’t in the cards for me - I fear “getting old”.

Anything else you would like to add about being a resident of Stettler County?

Stettler is an amazing community with something for pretty much every resident- stable and solid - avoiding stagnancy which is the biggest issue for smaller municipalities Stettler is a great place to raise your family and a great place to live retirement life in!
