Local Spotlight on Carla McPherson

StettlerLocal.com Sep 6, 2022 @ 7:55pm

Where are you from? Where did you grow up?

I was born and raised on a farm near Hardisty. I grew up in Hardisty, however, I went to elementary school in Amisk and high school in Hughenden.

Why do you (did you) choose Stettler as home?

I fell in love with a boy ( now husband), and he was working in Stettler training to be a power lineman for Atco. We both really loved this area and decided to make it our home together.

What do you do? What is your full title?

I am an Administration Assistant at Rairdan Services

Education?

I have a G.E.D. (General Education Diploma)

Family?

Keith McPherson and I happily tied the knot in Stettler nearly 14 years ago. Since then, we have been blessed with two boys. Corbin is now 11, and Logan is 7. We also have a whole bundle of fur babies we have rescued or adopted over the years.

Who inspired you in your youth? I was always inspired by my family the most. Growing up on a multi-generation farm meant seeing my Grandma almost every day and I learned a lot about how to be a strong independent person from her.

Who inspires you now?

I take daily inspiration from my children. Every day their love of life and learning inspires me to be a better person and to learn right along with them. Every day is a new adventure for us.

Do you have any hobbies?

I love to garden. Flowers, vegetables, outside and indoors. I love plants. I recently started learning about the hydroponic gardens to grow vegetables year-round inside my house. I also love baking and cooking, and I am always experimenting in the kitchen.

What are your plans for the future?

A few years ago, my husband and I bought the acreage of our dreams just outside of Stettler. I have simple plans, I want to raise my children there and grow old and retire with the love of my life, spending our days enjoying our gardens and sunsets on the deck.

Anything else you would like to add about being a member of the community in Stettler County?

One of the things I love the most about Stettler is the community here. We are so lucky to have so many unique stores and businesses and local people who care about them. I love the community events that get held here that make our community stand out against the rest. I'm proud to call Stettler my home.
