The County of Stettler has an exciting opportunity for a Heavy-Duty Mechanic within our Operations Department. Apprentices may also be considered. 


The successful candidate will be a safety conscious team player with strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. The ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities while paying close attention to detail is essential.


Duties will include:

  • Assisting with the safe & cost-effective maintenance of a variety of heavy mobile equipment; 

  • Performing field diagnostic and repairs;

  • Contributing to large scale overhauls and rebuilds;

  • Completing daily field level hazard assessments for all activities;

  • Finalizing maintenance reporting and other documentation as required;

  • Communicating effectively and professionally with other team members;

  • Participating in the continuous improvement of equipment and facilities;

  • Various related duties as required.


The candidate must possess the following:

  • Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician Certification;

  • 3rd/4th year apprentices may be considered based on experience.


The County of Stettler offers a competitive salary. An offer of employment may be conditional upon the submission of a satisfactory driver abstract, and criminal record check.
