Mission Statement
The Stettler & District Family and Community Support Services strives to be recognized as the agency that builds a better community by advocating and providing support that strengthens, enriches and enhances the quality of life for our members.
Services to assist communities identify their social needs and develop responses to meet those needs including:
• raising public awareness around community issues
• developing strategies for community advocacy
• developing comprehensive social community plans and initiatives
• in kind support to community based groups
Programs that promote the social development of children and their families including:
• parent-child development activities
• support services for young children aged 6-12(excluding out of school care subsidies)
Programs that enrich and strengthen family life by developing skills so people can function more effectively within their own environment.
Services to inform the public of available services, including:
• information and referral services,
• community information directories
• newcomer services
• inter-agency co-ordination
ASIST Trained - Suicide First Aid- Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training.
All of our staff is effectively trained in suicide prevention. We are able to work with families whom have been affective by suicide and clients that may have thoughts of suicide.
Budgeting Assistance and Life Coaching - Financial Literacy program- This program assists clients in budgeting expenses and money management skills.
Family Counseling - Currently on staff there is a registered Provisional Phycologist. Offering counseling for a wide spectrum of family counselling needs.
Senior Support - Assist clients in filling out forms such as CPP, OAS, Pensions, and Special Needs. Ensuring access resources such as Home Support and the Handibus.
Harm reduction / Addictions Support - Through a partnership with AHS and Turing Point in Red Deer FCSS offers a rural access site providing the Town and County of Stettler with Medical grade harm reduction supplies including take home Naloxone kits.
Trauma, Greif and Loss Programs - FCSS facilitates a cognitive behavioral process for healing grieving hearts. This program is offered in both a small group and an individual format.
