The Village of Big Valley is about to become stronger! With the addition of a new fitness centre in on main street, people within the town and surrounding residents will have an opportunity to become healthier.
Prairie Fitness Ltd. was introduced to Big Valley on June 12th, 2020 by Founder Carly Fahey. Conversations about a workout gym in Big Valley had lingered for many years and it was something that sparked Fahey's interest. Although the gym owner does not have her Personal Training certificate, she has a background in athletics and plans on earning her certificate in the near future.
The empty building in downtown Big Valley was visualized to make a great spot for a workout centre. Renovations on the building started to take place in March with the list of updates taht included cleaning, painting, new flooring, mirror installations, and the addition of exercise equipment. Most of the work done to the building was done privately with the help of Fahey’s family and friends.
“The gym has that small-town feel, where there is no pressure, people can just go and feel comfortable while working out. I have members who have never stepped foot inside a fitness facility, this gym is truly for anybody.” Carly Fahey, Owner of Prairie Fitness, Ltd.
Like many other businesses, Prairie Fitness Ltd. was affected by COVID-19. Opening of the new gym was set to take place earlier than June, however, the launch had to wait because recreation centres were not deemed as an essential business. Fahey already has fifty gym members and a limit may soon need to be put on the number of people allowed in the space. Members follow standard sanitary gym etiquette, which includes wiping down gym equipment and being mindful of the space.
The gym is accessible with a 24-hour available access card and Carly will typically be in the building on Monday and Wednesday from 9 am to 3 pm.
