
The Town of Stettler is looking to fill the full time permanent position of Transportation Operator. This position is based on a 40 hour work week with the need for overtime/weekend work during emergent situations.
The successful candidate will have experience in operation and maintenance of all aspects of public works. Involves the frequent use of equipment and work within groups to repair, maintain and construct the roads and storm drainage systems. Responsibilities including experience operating a backhoe and familiarity with other equipment such as skid steer, loaders, and tandem and other equipment. Complete excavations, pavement repairs, line painting, asphalt patching, crack filling, landscaping, repair fences, buildings, signs and other structures. Use various hand tools and work on roads, sidewalks and drainage projects. Work on tree trimming and maintenance.
You must be a highly motivated person with the ability to handle changing work environments with minimal supervision and be available for on-call and varying work hours based on seasonal work such as snow removal/summer road maintenance.
You have a valid class five and class three with air drivers license and minimum grade twelve high school education, or equivalent. Preference will be given to applicants who have training in ground disturbance, equipment operation, hazard assessment and control, and are familiar with OH&S legislation.
