Rates were selected to accommodate the financial strain of the COVID-19 pandemic
On Tuesday, May 19th, the Town of Stettler Council adopted the 2020 Operating Budget, with combined expenditures totaling $18,240,375. The average municipal property tax class changes were set at 0% for Residential Properties and -1% for Non-Residential properties.
With a 0% Residential Property tax increase, no additional revenue will be generated for municipal purposes from the pre-existing 2019 Residential Property class, and the Non-Residential property class will see a decrease in overall Property class revenue for municipal purposes of -$22,237.
The property class changes were chosen, largely in part, in response to the COVID-19
pandemic. The Town of Stettler acknowledges that this crisis has caused increased financial
strain for many residents, and hopes to provide assistance in the path to recovery. The
Town of Stettler continues to commit to the best interests of our taxpayers.
“The Town of Stettler will continue to provide affordable, high quality core municipal services while being mindful of the economic climate and fiscal impacts upon our taxpayers. Ensuring stability through this unprecedented period is paramount to protect our community’s viability.” Greg Switenky, CAO
Additionally, the Town of Stettler has extended the Property Tax Payment Deadline from
June 30, 2020 to October 30, 2020. A monthly Tax Pre-Authorized Withdrawal Plan will be
available to taxpayers in July. Tax notices will be distributed to taxpayers throughout the
