Stettler Regional Emergency Management Agency’s (SREMA’s) top priority is the health, safety and well-being of the public and our communities. We continue to share messaging as communicated from the Province in response to COVID-19 to mitigate the spread of the virus and encourage all our citizens to practice social distancing help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
As the weather improves and we are able to enjoy the outdoors, we ask you continue to follow the physical distancing and gathering guidelines as set forth by the Province of Alberta.
The Province advises against garage sales or similar activity, and we ask that our communities delay any planned yard or garage sales until the Province has lifted the restrictions on gatherings. Yard and garage sales tend to draw gatherings and often require cash transactions and handling of objects – all of which are risks for COVID-19 spread. As a reminder, all playgrounds remain closed; there is increased risk for the spread of the virus in these high volume areas and on the numerous touch points of public playground equipment.
We also remind our community that there is a current Fire Restriction in place which prohibits the use of Fireworks, and requires a mesh covering for the use of fire pits. The Fire Restriction also prohibits the issuance of new Fire Permits for the burning of old buildings, wood piles or construction materials. We ask you re-check the sites of recent burns to confirm they remain extinguished, as strong winds can sometimes re-ignite these burn piles.
