The Village of Big Valley is seeking a permanent, part-time Public Works Assistant. If you are innovative, reliable and self-driven, this opportunity may be the right fit for you! The incumbent must live in, or in close proximity to the Village.
Minimum Skills, Abilities and Qualifications
· Able to operate a computer and working knowledge of various software programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
· Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
· Possess excellent public relations skills.
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
· Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
· Possess good time management skills.
Desired Skills and Attributes
· Valid Class 5 Drivers License.
· Strong organizational abilities.
· Small water and waste water management
· Repair and maintain, or assist in the repairing and maintaining of all municipal buildings, sidewalk, parking lots and other municipal properties and structures.
· Landscaping, lawn mowing, and flower bed gardening.
· Snow removal.
· Perform simple carpentry, painting and mechanical duties as necessary
· Assist as necessary in all operations of the Village of Big Valley, under the direction of the Public Works Foreman and the Chief Administrative Officer.
· Work in a safe manner according to all applicable legislation and regulations and Village policies.
· Perform the duties of Public Works Foreman in his/her absence.
· Other duties related to the position as assigned.
