On Friday June 4th, both Mayor Sean Nolls, and his county counterpart, Reeve Larry Clarke, met at Heart Haven Lodge to officially sign the 2021 Seniors’ Week Proclamation to kick off Seniors’ Week starting today.
In past years, members of the town and county councils have been able to personally deliver fruit trays to the lodges which gave them the opportunity to visit with the residents. With COVID guidelines dictating precautions for the safety of the seniors of the community, personally delivering the trays and visiting with the elderly, wasn’t an option.
This year in celebration of Seniors’ Week in Stettler:
JUNE 8TH: Contactless Fruit Tray & Card delivery
JUNE 10TH: Activity Kit Delivery
Many of the items in the activity kits are crafts, drawings, and home-made gifts donated by the local youth. The Activity Kits are being put together by the Stettler Public library, who expect to put together at least 280 kits for the occasion.
“The library has been really great to work with on this…” -Lara Angus, Town of Stettler communications officer.
The province of Alberta, along with the Seniors Outreach Program Society in Three Hills, are hosting the province-wide launch of Seniors’ week.
