Town of Stettler Press Release April 22, 2021 @ 1:59pm published April 23, 2021 at 10:03am
The project will include new concrete sidewalks, enhanced bulbing features, and watermain replacements
Due to the deteriorating condition of the Main Street sidewalk between 48th Avenue and 49th Avenue, the Town of Stettler has identified that improvements are necessary to ensure that business access remains safe and sustainable for pedestrians. The construction process is expected to last approximately six (6) weeks following the May 1st initiation and will consist of sidewalk replacements, enhanced bulbing features and watermain replacements.
The project will be conducted in phases to minimize interruptions, with the tentative timeline as follows:
• Pre-Construction: 50th Avenue to 48th Avenue (May 1 – 4).
• Phase 1: Half-Block south from 49th Avenue – Approximate two-week duration
immediately following pre-construction.
• Phase 2: Half-Block north from 48th Avenue – Approximate two-week duration
immediately following Phase 1.
During this time, visitors to Main Street can expect a two-block closure during pre- construction, followed by half-block closures while equipment removes and replaces the water services and sidewalks. All parking lots off of Main Street will be accessible while the construction is occurring, and walking access will remain available to all Main Street businesses with occasional short-term blockages. In order to facilitate outdoor dining throughout the season, restaurants in the impacted areas have been contacted in order to make alternate arrangements for their patios. Additionally, guaranteed parking has been secured for the Stettler & District Handi-Bus Society.
The Town of Stettler would like to thank all residents and business owners for their patience and cooperation as we work to enhance the Main Street Stettler experience. For ongoing details and maps of the construction area, please visit: https://www.stettler.net/the-town/seasonal-construction
