Local Spotlight on Tamara Rutz

StettlerLocal.com October 26, 2021 @ 9:00pm

Where are you from? Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Bashaw until we moved to Stettler in 2006. I currently reside at Botha.

Why do you (did you) choose Stettler as home?

Stettler has become our home. Initially for us it was only a planned stop. But the small town community, shops and services, coupled with our family close by kept us here. As our children have started through school we continue to grow to love this community and the people we meet and friendships we make. Our family has set down roots on an acreage near Botha, I operate a business in Stettler, my husband works for a local company. Our kids attend school in Stettler and are involved in local sports and community events. Stettler has so much more to offer than we had ever thought.

What do you do? What is your full title?

I own an insurance brokerage- Heartland Insurance which I also am a broker at.

Family?

Married to Peter, 4 children- Karlee, Luke, Kasey and Heidi

Education?

Attended college at Norquest and a collaborative college program at RDC. I have my educational assistant diploma. Level 2 General Insurance Broker License

Who inspired you in your youth? Tough question- who didn't inspire me! I had many role models and inspirations some including professional athletes and public figures down to my Grade 9 Teacher and neighbors in my community.

Who inspires you now?

Ive always had great role models to look up to. Now I've come to learn that I find so much inspiration through regular people. Seeing what someone can work through or achieve, oftentimes them thinking it's so little, inspires me to do better at being myself, being a mom and wife, being a business owner and more. And having people say that they admire me or I have inspired them, it's probably life's greatest achievement!

Do you have any hobbies?

I like to read, play hockey and visit with friends.

What are your plans for the future?

Plans for the future are tough at this time.. however we as a family hope to continue to become more involved in the community, making Stettler a lifetime fold in our fabric. As our children grow we intend to share what this community has to offer them and what we can offer the community. We definitely see the area as our life long home.

Anything else you would like to add about being a resident of Stettler?

Stettler will surprise you, give it a chance. There are so many great people and opportunities here. There is rich history and more legacies to be built.
