Where are you from? Where did you grow up?

Stettler

Why do you (did you) choose Stettler as home?

Stettler has always been my home and I felt comfortable raising my family here.

What do you do? What is your full title?

Executive Director at Stettler & District Family & Community Support Services

Family?

I am married and have a daughter and grandchildren who also live in the community as do most of my siblings and their children. It is nice to have family close and be able to watch my grandchildren grow up in the same community as I did.

Education?

University of Concordia-Career Development, Bow Valley University-Addiction Counselling, Fowler International Academy-Life Skills Coaching as well as over 25 years experience serving our community at our local FCSS. Suicide Prevention/Smart Recovery Facilitator/Trauma Grief & Loss Facilitator along with numerous other prevention programs

Who inspired you in your youth? My parents have always been an inspiration to me. Watching them raise a family and face the day to day challenges taught me to always keep striving to do better. Even when life gets tough there is always something to be thankful for.

Who inspires you now?

At this stage of my life I am inspired by the people that we work with and the community. It is inspiring to watch a community work together to encourage and support one another. Seeing people overcome barriers and succeed is inspiring in itself.

Do you have any hobbies?

I enjoy camping with my family. I also spend my time doing light renovations on my home, crafts and cooking.

What are your plans for the future?

As Executive Director, I plan to continue supporting my community and staff to help individuals/families navigate through these challenging times. My plans for the future include watching my grandchildren grow. After retirement I hope to be able to do some travelling.

Anything else you would like to add about being a resident of Stettler?

I have always enjoyed living in Stettler. It is an inviting community with lots on the go. It is also a community that is always there to support its members. Stettler is full of supportive and giving people who are always willing to lend a hand or get behind a cause that is close to their heart.
