Local Spotlight on Candidate Lance Neilson September 19, 2021 @ 6:10pm

Why are you running?

I am running to help improve accountability in government. If we want to change the direction of our federal and provincial governments, we need to start local and build from there. Local government affects our lives to a greater degree than other levels. If we can provide a good example and set expectations of what government should be in all the local government offices across the province and country, we will see change.

What riding are you running for?

Ward 2 - Big Valley

What is your background?

I was raised on a mixed farm near Halkirk. I attended Olds College, earned a business diploma and met my wife. Upon graduation we got married and both started as Agriculture and business lenders with chartered banks. I took a job with a oilfield service company as CFO and partnership share where we did work in Canada and the USA. After 10 years we wanted to head back to the farm full time. I, along with my wife and teenage children have a cow calf and bred heifer operation where we also direct market our finished beef products across Alberta under our own brand.

What do you hope to accomplish if you win?

Transparency in government and economic development. I want to Build on the great way of life in Stettler county and ensure it is a place where families are excited to live and have opportunity. Creating excitement to live here and making it easy to do business here will give a feeling that opportunity is available for everyone.

Anything else I wanted to say?

Thank you to everyone that comes out to vote. I love Stettler County, and I am excited to do my part to keep it a great place to live.

Thank you to Lance Neilson for participating in our Candidate Spotlights.
