On February 15, 2021 from 9-12PM The Stettler & District Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) held their annual Family Day event. This year the organization provided a Pancake Breakfast via curb-side pickup at Brenda’s Cozy Cafe to comply with COVID-19 restrictions.
“We usually have a Family Day event and still wanted to do something despite the ongoing COVID restrictions” - Andrea Lee, Community Engagement Coordinator
FCSS arranged for locals to go online and book a time where you could pick up hot, ready-to-go pancake breakfasts in single-serving containers, and have a delicious breakfast at home. Best of all, no cleanup to cut into your Family-centric Family Day.
According to Lee around 200 people booked their freshly cooked breakfast at Brenda’s Cozy Café cooked by a few volunteers, and dedicated FCSS staff.
FCSS provides counselling services for families and to those who have lost a family member, they help people with financial literacy, referral services, and offer public-access computers for things like resume writing and job searches. They also provide senior assistance and have the forms and knowledge for seniors to fill out for CPP and Old Age Security.
Because of Federal Office closures due to COVID-19 restrictions, FCSS has been assisting clients in applying for EI, CERB and CRB.
