Provincial Press Release July 14, 2021 @ 7:00 pm published at 7:12 pm
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Devin Dreeshen issued the following statement in support of Alberta’s farmers and ranchers:
“Alberta’s government recognizes the devastating impacts that extreme dry conditions have on farmers and ranchers throughout the province.
“We are working with Agriculture Financial Services Corporation, local municipalities, and commodity groups to provide producers with the supports they need to make it through the ongoing dry conditions.
“Tomorrow, during the virtual Federal-Provincial-Territorial meeting, I will urge the federal government to recognize the hardships faced by Alberta’s producers and ask that they implement an AgriRecovery initiative as soon as possible.
“I have advised AFSC crop adjustors to complete early assessments on pastureland and standing crops to address forecasted feed shortages and promote flexibility. Our government will continue to work with them to support Alberta’s producers.
“I want all farmers and ranchers across Alberta to know that we hear you, and we will do everything we can to support you through this very challenging time.”
