Clearview Superintendent's end of year message

Submitted June 23, 2021 @ 12:11pm published 12:20pm

We were repeatedly told this school year was unprecedented, uncharted, and unheard of, and yet here we are at the end. We survived and thrived despite it all. Our goal for the end of the school year 2021 was to finish strong; I am proud to say we have done just that. I want to take this opportunity to thank absolutely EVERYONE for their contributions to education.

First and foremost, thank you to all of our students!! We recognize the uncertainty the year has brought, and you are to be commended for your character, grit and determination, and dedication to your studies. You did so despite the many challenges. To our graduates in Coronation School, Gus Wetter School, and William E. Hay Stettler Secondary Campus, we are very proud of each one of you and wish you all the best in your future endeavours. We know this is not the way you imagined graduation to be, and my heart goes out to you. Please understand that the positive impact on your school, community, and society is far-reaching and makes a difference to all our students. As Superintendent, I am overwhelmed and humbled by the many stories of personal and collective accomplishments, community spirit, and tenacity during this pandemic. I believe your contributions to the world will be far-reaching, positive, and innovative because of your experience. We have built resilience to finish strong.

To parents, guardians, and family members, thank you for your outstanding support and faith in the Clearview community. Your commitment to your children to support learning at home as the COVID restrictions and guidelines continually changed, and your support of one another is outstanding. This pandemic has shown us that we can accomplish anything if we continue to work together as families, schools, and communities. You need to be commended for all of your support. I recognize that the pandemic brought about many stressors; thank you for sacrifice and your commitment while juggling your many roles and responsibilities.

I want to express a heartfelt thank you to our staff for all you have done this year. The year was nothing we could have imagined or planned for, but you have shown tenacity and dedication to students, staff, and parents. You rose to the occasion with strength and conviction, and we have ended the year strong. I have witnessed your resiliency, creativity, flexibility, and dedication. I commend you for your strength of character. You have put the words “We ALL Belong ~ We ALL Succeed” into action. Our Clearview Community of custodians, bus drivers, EAs, teachers, board members, principals, OT and SLP, central office, transportation, and maintenance demonstrated an unwavering commitment to excellence. Everyone needs a pat on the back because each one of you directly impacts student learning and success. For that, I am so grateful.

Thank you to our community members and organizations. We are very grateful for your involvement and participation in education. Students have witnessed through your actions the importance of teamwork and community spirit. Your continued support is significant and greatly appreciated. We look forward to a continued partnership in the new year.

In closing, I would like to extend my most profound appreciation to everyone for their commitment to Clearview. I have been incredibly blessed to be in the Superintendent role this year, and I could not be more proud of our accomplishments. I look forward to our STRONG start to the 2021-2022 school year and our continued commitment to student learning and achievement.

Please take this summer to recharge and take a well-deserved break to reconnect with family, friends, and, more importantly, yourself. I wish you a wonderful summer!

Thank you for finishing strong. Enjoy your summer.
