Release by Clearview Public Schools December 18, 2020 at 4:20pm published at 4:45pm.

Clearview School Division and the Stettler Football community are excited to announce that the first part of the new sports field lighting system for the Stettler Recreation Field has been installed.
The track and field revitalization is an exciting improvement of our communities recreational facilities and offers wonderful opportunities for families and students. The addition of the lights increases the options for sporting events and activities available with the extended hours of use, with evening games allowing our community to join together to watch our athletes play and compete in front of family and friends. This refurbished recreational facility will be a recognition of our community pride and an asset to our student athletes and schools.
The sport field lights consist of four light standards with metal halide luminaires (lights) on each pole specifically designed to provide excellent field light and minimal impacts to surrounding residences. The lighting system is guaranteed for 25 years and was purchased from Musco Sports Lights, the world leader in lighting for playing fields.
The installation of the field lights represents the completion of phase two of the track and field revitalization project started in 2017 under the direction of the Shared Use Recreational Fields Committee, which is led by Board Chair Guy Neitz. In the near future we are hoping for further community support to build elevated bleacher seating which will complete the revitalization.
Recognition is extended to Stettler Wildcat & Stettler Minor football associations, Wm. E. Hay Stettler Secondary Campus, Heartland Industries Inc, Universal Rig, North Star Trucking, Twist Oil Field and special thanks to Fire Chief Mark Dennis who served as Project Manager. Thank you also to the members of the Stettler Regional Fire Department who have volunteered their time and effort to this project.
Clearview School Division would also like to thank the Town of Stettler and County of Stettler for their contributions in completing phase one (running track) in 2019 and extend our thanks to Interpipeline whose financial support to our community made it possible to complete the track and lights.
The total cost of the field light project (before gifts in kind and volunteer service) is estimated to be $190,000. The project is funded by a combination of remaining dollars from the recreation track resurfacing, volunteers, gifts-in-kind, fundraised dollars from Wm. E. Hay Stettler Secondary School, Stettler Minor Football Association, Stettler Wildcats Football Team, and a $75,000 grant from the Alberta Government. In October and specific to the sport lighting, the community was provided a $75,000 Community Facility Enhancement Grant from the Government of Alberta with the support of our local MLA Nate Horner.
While great work has been done, the project is not yet completed. In the Spring, we will be looking for further supports to connect the electricity to the new sport field lights including trenching and laying wiring which will need further supports from the community. If you are interested in helping or providing financial supports, please contact Fire Chief Mark Dennis at mdennis@srfd.net.
