Celebrating Stettler’s Ag Industry on Canada’s Agriculture Day

Updated: Sep 11, 2021

Stettler Board of Trade Press Release February 22, 2021 @ 1:21pm published at 1:32pm

Agriculture is the backbone of many rural communities and Stettler is no exception.

Food and agriculture in Canada create a multi-billion-dollar business offering experiences and jobs in a variety of roles. But agriculture is so much more. For generations, farm families have instilled in each other the love of the land. From concerns about freshwater resources, high nutrient soil values and the best well-being and care for their animals, producers take their roles in our health and sustainability seriously.

Canada’s Agriculture Day on February 23, 2021 is a time for everyone to come together to celebrate Canadian agriculture, share pride in the industry and draw a closer connection between the food we eat and the people who produce it. It is a day to celebrate those who take on the role many of us would not be able or willing to endure.

To further the celebration, Stettler’s Taste of the Heartland is excited to announce they will be hosting their third event on August 14, 2021. Taste of the Heartland encourages consumers to learn more about where their food comes from by creating a dialogue with the people who are producing it.

“We are very excited to have new ideas that will allow us to host this celebration bringing awareness of the fresh and local ingredients available right here in our own backyard while respecting any restrictions possibly in place at the time. Considerations have been taken and careful planning will allow us to create a unique event embracing the farm to table lifestyle.” - Donna Morris, Project Manager for the Stettler Regional Board of Trade and Community Development

More information will come for the 2021 Taste of the Heartland event however we encourage all local consumers to celebrate our local agriculture today by raising their forks to the food we love and the people who produce it. Post a photo or video celebrating Canadian Agriculture, cook an all-Canadian meal, or post a “Forks Up” selfie and take some time to learn why agriculture is not just a career, it’s a lifestyle.
