1/2 lb group beef, raw
1 1/2 C flour
3 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 celery salt
1/4 tsp pepper
3 tbsp shortening
3/4 C milk
1/4 C sliced onions
2 tbsp shortening
1 can tomato soup
Mix together flour, baking powder, salt, celery salt and pepper,. Add 3 tablespoons shortening and mix in thoroughly with fork or pastry blender. Add milk and mix just to blend. Cook onions in 2 tablespoons shortening. Add tomato soup and ground beef; bring to a boil. Cook and stir for 3 or 4 minutes. Pour mixture into a 2 quart casserole dish. Spread baking powder mixture on top of meat. Bake in 450F oven for about 20 minutes. Turn upside down on large plate. Serves 8. This is an old time family favourite, my Mom it out of the paper in the early 50s.
