Walk-in clinics open for first-dose COVID-19 immunization

RED DEER – Albertans can receive their first dose of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine without an appointment at walk-in clinics in 13 communities across the Central Zone.

Communities offering walk-in clinics:

  • Camrose

  • Drayton Valley

  • Olds

  • Ponoka

  • Red Deer

  • Rimbey

  • Stettler

  • Sundre

  • Three Hills

  • Two Hills

  • Vegreville

  • Wainwright

  • Wetaskiwin

Full clinic details — including locations, dates and operating hours — are available online: https://www.albertahealthservices.ca/topics/Page17295.aspx#walkin.

Due to a larger supply of the Moderna vaccine product currently available, eligible Albertans born in 2003 or earlier will be immunized with the Moderna vaccine at all 13 sites.

We encourage eligible Albertans to protect themselves and others by being vaccinated as soon as possible. Please bring your Alberta Health Care card if you have one, along with photo ID. You will be required to wear a face mask and use hand sanitizer when visiting the site for your immunization.

Second doses are not available at these walk-in clinics.

AHS is recommending choosing Moderna for your second dose if you want an earlier appointment when booking through the AHS online tool.

To date, approximately 3,400 Albertans have chosen Moderna as their second dose after receiving Pfizer as their first dose so that they can complete their vaccine series faster.

Moderna and Pfizer are both mRNA vaccines and work in the same way. These vaccine products are considered to be interchangeable.

Please do your part in helping keep our communities as safe as possible. It is vitally important for all of us to remain vigilant in the fight against COVID-19 and to follow public health guidelines at all times. This includes maintaining physical distancing and masking.

If you are experiencing symptoms, stay home and arrange for COVID-19 testing through AHS.ca or by calling 811.
